Responsible budgeting

The state budget has grown dramatically every year for the last decade, and the Legislature has raised taxes year after year to keep pace. That’s not sustainable, and working families are the ones squeezed by it.

On the Shoreline City Council, Keith has stayed well within budget parameters and maintained healthy reserves. Even through a pandemic and economic uncertainty, Keith has focused on responsibly expanding services, building sidewalks and parks, and strengthening the social safety net. Healthy reserves, honest policymaking, and disciplined priorities made that possible. Keith even proposed cutting $27,500 in annual council travel and training expenses, because fiscal discipline that doesn’t apply to the people making the decisions isn’t discipline at all. No other candidate has proven their financial prudence and responsibility more than Keith Scully.

Keith will bring that same discipline to Olympia: spend carefully, protect what matters, and stop treating taxpayers as the automatic solution to every budget gap. Responsible budgeting is what makes progressive government sustainable and protects working families.
